Makerere University (MAK) was founded in 1922, being the largest and oldest higher academic institution in Uganda. Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. The university seeks to transform Makerere University into a more research-intensive University and enhance relevance to the community and consolidate Makerere's position as Uganda's engine of development.
