Under the theme “Electrons to Economic Diversity,” the newsletter explores how energy access goes beyond powering lights — it fuels livelihoods, strengthens local economies, and fosters inclusive development.
It features inspiring stories of transformation: from mini-grids powering new businesses in Zambia’s Eastern Province to solar innovations empowering women artisans in Northeast India’s Eri silk industry.
Key Highlights:
⚡ Electrons to Economic Diversity: A mini-grid by Ignite Energy Access (formerly ENGIE) in Zambia’s Eastern Province now powers 36 small businesses — from tailoring shops to agro-processing units — creating local jobs, improving education, and ensuring reliable healthcare services.
🧵 Clean Energy in Traditional Value Chains: CES CAREs’ integration of decentralized renewable energy into the Eri Silk Value Chain in Meghalaya and Nagaland has trained over 500 women entrepreneurs, enhancing productivity through solar-powered silk reeling, drying, and water heating.
🌾 Capacity Building for Rural Enterprises: Hands-on trainings in food processing and solar sewing reached more than 120 participants across Northeast India, promoting new income opportunities and enterprise development.
🤝 Partnerships and Global Engagement: CES CAREs joined major dialogues at India Energy Storage Week (IESW 2025) and Connect Karo 2025, while also launching a new collaboration with Husk Power Systems to expand decentralized renewable energy in emerging markets.
🏆 Recognition and Innovation: At the SEED Annual Symposium 2025, CES CAREs’ projects received top honors for showcasing impactful, community-driven clean energy models that link sustainability, entrepreneurship, and development.
Through these initiatives, CES CAREs continues to demonstrate how every electron can power opportunity - transforming energy access into a foundation for inclusive economic growth and resilience.
