Data Steward Training
In our Data Steward Training, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the research data infrastructure, develop solutions for discipline-specific research data management needs, and become empowered to support other researchers in your discipline in handling research data.
Training objectives:
- apply and communicate measures for sustainable research data management
- write project-specific data management plans
- create concepts for reproducibility and quality assurance of research data
- know research data infrastructure within TUM and beyond
- know relevant initiatives, projects, and developments in the field of research data management
Methods: Input of specialists, exercise, individual work, group work, exchange, discussion, project work
Requirements: basic knowlegde of research data management, attending in-person classroom events, self-lead study, project work
Language: English
Targeting group: TUM Scientists, TUM Doctoral Candidates
Costs: free of charge
Availability: 10 places
Dates
The training runs throughout the winter semester 2024/25.
Dates: monthly on the second Monday, from 1p.m. to 4p.m.

Additional workload between the classroom dates: approximately 100 hours for self-lead study and project work.
All dates are in-person classroom events: Campus Munich, Großer Besprechungsraum 2180 (Branch Library Main Campus).
Application/Registration
By 31 August 2024 send a letter of interest with the subject "Data Steward Training Application" to researchdata@tum.de. In approximately 1-2 A4 pages, please outline your motivation for participating in the Data Steward Training:
Why do you want to participate in this course and what will you use the acquired knowledge for? Please describe your previous knowledge and experience in research data management. Furthermore, let us know your expectations, topic preferences, and areas of interest for the Data Steward Training.
You will find out no later than 15 September 2024 whether you have received a place for the Data Steward Training.
