Data Steward Training
In our Data Steward Training, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the research data infrastructure, develop solutions for discipline-specific research data management needs, and become empowered to support other researchers in your discipline in handling research data.
Training objectives:
- write project-specific data management plans
- apply and communicate measures for sustainable research data management
- create concepts for reproducibility and quality assurance of research data
- master basics in Git and Python
- know research data infrastructure within TUM and beyond
- know relevant initiatives, projects, and developments in the field of research data management
Methods: Input of experts, exercise, individual work, group work, exchange, discussion, project work

Costs: free of charge
Availability: 10 places
Dates
The training runs throughout the winter semester 2023/24 from 16 October 2023 to 12 February 2024, on Mondays from 2 pm to 3:30 pm.
The workload is approximately 60 hours.
Classroom and online events:
The first and last meeting will take place in person: Campus Munich, Großer Besprechungsraum 2180 (Branch Library Main Campus).
All other meetings will be held online in Zoom.
Application/Registration
By 31 August 2023 send a letter of interest with the subject "Data Steward Training Application" to researchdata@tum.de. In approximately 1-2 A4 pages, please outline your motivation for participating in the Data Steward Training:
Why do you want to participate in this course and what will you use the acquired knowledge for? Please describe your previous knowledge and experience in research data management. Also address your IT skills, especially in Git and Python. Furthermore, let us know your expectations, topic preferences, and areas of interest for the Data Steward Training.
You will find out no later than 15 September 2023 whether you have received a place for the Data Steward Training.
