Request a Data Steward
Qualitative research data management (RDM) is an essential component of excellent research at TUM. Often it is a crucial criterion for research funding. Accordingly, dedicating one person solely to the project's RDM is a consistent and efficient decision for the entire research project. At TUM Research Data Hub, TUM researchers can request one of our Data Stewards and apply to integrate the Data Steward in their respective project.
What is a Data Steward's responsibility?
Data Stewards of TUM Research Data Hub are trained experts in research data management (RDM) and data science. Their main role is to steer and implement TUM's Guidelines on Handing Research Data in large research projects. Areas of responsibility include: data maintenance, sustainable data management, development of data analysis methods (e.g. AI, machine learning) and tools, and data-related project communication. Further, they serve as a liaison between their project team and the RDM community at TUM.
Why request a Data Steward?
For large coordinated programs, especially DFG projects, standardized processes for research data management (RDM) are essential. This important task can be assumed by Data Stewards, who manage research data for the project. They are responsible for RDM in the entire project, including project partners from other institutions. To ensure longterm expertise in RDM, Data Stewards link the project, TUM Research Data Hub, the various NFDI initiatives, and coordinated programs with TUM participation.
