The DFG funded HyperMet research group held its first annual plenary meeting on 21.11.2025 at the new conference center of Helmholtz Zentrum München. The event opened with a “State of HyperMet” address by HyperMet speaker Prof. Henning Wackerhage (TUM) and co-speaker Prof. Hanna Taipaleenmäki (LMU), followed by the introduction of new PhD students and Postdocs.
Project leaders and their teams presented progress reports on the nine subprojects, highlighting scientific achievements, challenges, and adjustments to timelines. This made it clear what fundamental work the young research group, which only started in March, has already accomplished through its collaboration.
In addition to the scientific presentations, the organizational units (“ministries”) introduced themselves. The focus was on the support they could provide to the HyperMet consortium. The following discussion emphasized the importance of collaboration, clear communication, and harmonized protocols for metabolomics.
In the spirit of applied research of muscle hypertrophy, the conference concluded with a one-hour exercise session, either in the weight room, during functional fitness, or by jogging. This and the following dinner fostered networking and strengthened team spirit across the consortium.
