Major Research Instrumentation (Computing Resources)
Are you planning to apply for major research instrumentation for computing resources (Forschungsgroßgeräte, DFG), such as high-performance computing, storage, or GPU resources?
The Research Data Hub coordinates the internal process at TUM and supports you from the first idea through to submission.
A few things to know:
- Get in touch early, ideally before you start drafting. Early coordination clarifies whether your application is eligible and feasible, and makes everything that follows smoother.
- Hosting is normally at the LRZ. Large-scale computing equipment is hosted at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre as standard.
- The process can take several months, depending on the specific requirements of your application. Please contact us as early as possible so that we can offer a consultation, run early feasibility checks, and keep the relevant units informed from the outset (CIO, LRZ, TUM ForTe, and TUM Finance).
