⚙️⚡ TUM SEED Research Presented in IEEE Best Paper Session
H. M. Faisal, doctoral candidate at the Technical University of Munich, presented his paper, “Fidelity-Aware Dynamic Network Reduction of Distribution Grids with Heterogeneous IBRs,” at the 2026 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting in Montréal, Canada.
The paper was selected for the Grid Transformation Best Paper Session, placing it among the top conference contributions presented in the event’s Best Paper Sessions.
Held under the theme “Powering the Digital Era,” the IEEE PES General Meeting brought together members of the international power and energy community to exchange ideas on the future of electricity systems. The programme featured more than 450 panel sessions, technical sessions and committee meetings, covering topics such as grid modernisation, artificial intelligence, inverter-based resources and power-system resilience.
This year’s conference received a record-breaking 1,369 paper submissions from industry and academia. According to the conference call for papers, the top 60 to 80 accepted papers were selected for presentation across the Best Paper Sessions.
Faisal’s research investigates how distribution grid models can be simplified for detailed time-domain studies while preserving the accuracy required to capture the dynamic behaviour of inverter-based resources. This is becoming increasingly important as solar, wind and battery storage play a growing role in modern power systems.
