The TUM SEED Center is happy and proud to announce that the project ENERGISE β ENabling a Just Energy Transition through Renewable Energy, Governance, and Innovative Sustainable Entrepreneurship has been selected for funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Funded under the African-German Centre for Just Energy Transition initiative, ENERGISE will be coordinated by Technical University of Munich (TUM) in collaboration with leading South African universities.
The ENERGISE consortium brings together TUM, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Johannesburg, the Tshwane University of Technology, and the University of Venda, representing an inclusive and decentralized partnership that bridges academic excellence, innovation, and social relevance.
Building on the success of the TUM SEED Center, ENERGISE will prepare the next generation of engineers, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to co-create equitable, resilient, and sustainable energy systems across Africa. By integrating education, research, and real-world collaboration, the project contributes to energy systems that are decarbonized, decentralized, democratized, and deeply rooted in local innovation.
We extend our sincere thanks to the DAAD, the Federal Foreign Office (AA) , and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) for their trust and support. The ENERGISE project marks a significant milestone toward advancing a Just Energy Transition through inclusive partnerships and transformative research.
